Khim Noi Village: A destination to experience Thai ethnic culture
(TITC) – Located in the middle of a peaceful, green valley, Khim Noi Community Cultural Tourism Village (Mu Cang Chai Town, Yen Bai Province) possesses beautiful nature and culture values of Thai people, an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

With great potential for development from community tourism, eco-tourism, experiential tourism with traditional cultural values of the Thai ethnic community, Khim Noi Village has been actively contributing to the development of tourism economy, an important field of Yen Bai today.

Khim Noi Village has 86 households, 100% of Thai people. Previously, people mainly lived on agricultural production. However, since Mu Cang Chai became an attractive tourist destination, Khim Noi has become an interesting stop in the journey of experience and discovery of tourists. Up to now, households in Khim Noi still retain the typical cultural features of the Thai people such as: stilt houses, cuisine, traditional costumes, living habits, folk songs, folk dances, spiritual life.
Coming to Khim Noi village, visitors will have the opportunity to experience interesting activities such as sleeping in stilt houses, bathing in medicinal herbs, exchanging campfires, enjoying unique cuisine, cycling to see rice fields, enjoying the fresh air…
Realizing the potential for developing community tourism in Khim Noi Village, Yen Bai province has focused on investing in rural infrastructure, organizing training courses on community tourism for local people, introducing and promoting Khim Noi Community Cultural Tourism Village on mass media, and propagating to people to develop tourism associated with preserving and maintaining traditional culture such as stilt houses, cuisine, traditional costumes, living habits, folk songs, folk dances, spiritual life, etc. At the same time, implementing good environmental sanitation, conserving nature, upgrading and renovating houses for tourists to stay, planting flowers and trees in the campus and paths in the village and organizing festivals, ceremonies and cultural activities: xoè dance, sap dance, and love songs at homestays. Since then, Khim Noi Village has become an interesting and attractive stop in the journey of experience and discovery of tourists.
Coming to Khim Noi Community Cultural Tourism Village, visitors would like to immerse themselves in the melodies of Khen Be, Tinh Tau, Then with bustling bamboo dance steps, captivating xoe dance, and enjoy culinary dishes such as: purple sticky rice, yellow sticky rice, smoked meat, fern salad, khau xi… full of the flavor of the countryside.

In 2020, Khim Noi Community Cultural Tourism Village was recognized by Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee as having achieved 4-star OCOP standards at the district level. This is the driving force for the Thai people here to continue to preserve and promote national cultural values, protect ecological landscapes and natural environments. At the same time, shifting the labor structure from agricultural production to tourism and trade services, creating more livelihoods, increasing income, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people here.
