Quang Binh: Bru Van Kieu-Vietnamese dialect electronic dictionary completed

The first Bru Van Kieu-Vietnamese dialect electronic dictionary in Vietnam has recently been completed, according to Quang Binh provincial Information Technology and Communication Centre.

According to Director of the Quang Binh provincial Information Technology and Communication Centre, Quach Xuan Hung, Bru Van Kieu ethnic people always lived in the central region. Teaching and looking up Bru Van Kieu language has been based in ancient texts.

After two years, the Quang Binh provincial Information Technology and Communication Centre completed the electronic-dictionary, with more than 2,000 Bru Van Kieu words listed in both Vietnamese and Bru Van Kieu languages.

The dictionary is an effective way to preserve and bring into play the national cultural identity. Furthermore, it is a useful tool for cadres, public employees, linguists, and citizens to study the Bru Van Kieu language and culture.

The dictionary is expected to bring national unity and understanding between Bru Van Kieu people and other ethnic groups.

The Quang Binh provincial Information Technology and Communication Centre expect to complete the dictionary’s smartphone version soon.

The dictionary also offers image and films on the traditions, customs and typical cultural characteristics of Bru Van Kieu people in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien – Hue provincial.
