\u2018Tet xip xi\u201d (Xip xi festival) of the White Thai people in Quynh Nhai and Phu Yen districts has been recognised as national intangible cultural heritage, according to an August 9 decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ritual part of the Xip xi festival is held at Tu Ti Nang Han shrine, Muong Chien commune, Quynh Nhai district.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The festival, categorised as a social custom and belief, is held on the 14th day of the seventh lunar month annually (Xip xi means 14). This is a long-standing ceremony of the White Thai people in Son La province with many unique traditional cultural features and rich humanistic meanings. It is the day when people turn to their ancestors, and also an occasion to pay special attention and care to the younger generation. The White Thai also call Tet xip xi the children’s festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
